Short Story
CAMFED is a non-governmental, non-profit organization that aims to end poverty in Africa by supporting girls’ education and women’s leadership. It was founded in 1993. CAMFED’s focus is on rural areas where girls and young women face disadvantages, and where empowering them has a transformative impact.Â
CAMFED’s interventions include scholarships, Learner Guides, and other programs that support girls’ learning outcomes and retention. Learner Guides are people who are familiar with the needs of children in their communities, and have the tools and resources to support them academically and socially. They also provide a bridge between schools, families, and local authorities.Â
