Campaign Story

Home of Hope children’s home is a child welfare organisation which was founded in 2003. It has registration 10/72 and is a child-minding organisation that is running under the auspices of The United Methodist Church (UMC), Zimbabwe West Annual Conference. It is registered under section 31 of the Act of section 24 of the Child Protection and Adoption regulation of 1972.It is located 23km from Mutoko Centre, situated 143km from Harare. Most of the funds for the upkeep of the Home of Hope children’s home come from self-motivated individuals such as well-wishers, church members based on an inter-denominational basis and other donors, with United Methodist Church (UMC) in Zimbabwe as the leader. Also, a very little grant is provided by the Government of Zimbabwe UNDER The Department of Social Development (DSD). Currently, Home of Hope children’s home have 27 children,14 girls and 13 boys. The Home is structured in a dormitory form but in the process of transforming into a family cluster setup.

Objectives

• To promote a safe, secure, and supportive environment for all the children and to see to it that their best interests are prioritized.

• To ensuring that children receive parental care, love, and guidance.

• To meet the needs of Orphan and Vulnerable through fostering and caregiving.

• To groom children into responsible, independent and life skills-equipped adults.

• To safeguard children’s rights e.g. right to education, right to shelter etc.

• To provide moral, physical, social, mental, and emotional care to Orphans and vulnerable children under the age of 18 in a Christian environment.
