Campaign Story
Kutenda Children’s Home is rural based institution. The institution was founded by pastors the late Rev Elias and Mrs Rev Annah Maponga. Kutenda Children’s Home opened in 2011 in Nekati village under chief Masembura in Bindura. Kutenda is registered as a Private Voluntary Organisation (PVO) under Zimbabwean law. KCH has a capacity of 24 children and currently has 18 children ranging from 4 years to 18 years.
The Home has two children who are on Anti-Retro Viral treatment. The children housed by Kutenda attend local schools namely Masembura Primary and Secondary schools. KCH is a Christian based institution and holds in high value Christian morals and belief, thus aiming to nurture God fearing and mannered children.
Objectives
1. To maintain the biopsychosocial growth of referred children whilst looking for long-term family situations for them, through holistically care in small family groups that meet all relevant standards by:
• Providing them with a family and shelter
• Providing them with food and clothing
• Ensuring their spiritual growth
• Giving them access to education
2. To place vulnerable children in safe and supportive family situations through research, negotiation and support of the children and their reconnection families.
