Campaign Story
Makomborero aims to see 1000 girls stay in school through identifying vulnerable girls aged between 13 and 14 years of age and providing a Mentorship Programme that gives them hope and a vision for their futures beyond the societal pressures they face. Makomborero hope to address the gender imbalance the girls experience with a scholarship programme and to see more girls completing their secondary education. The project is run by former Makomborero students.
The organisation aims to inspire and show the girls that there is hope for a bright future through Mentorship classes run by former students who are from the same communities but have defied circumstances to achieve academically. young Community mentors have been incorporated for continuity. The girls will be taught crocheting to give them a life skill to help support their families and contribute to their own educational needs.
