The Blood Care Foundation is an NGO that supplies and distributes screened blood, rabies immunoglobulin, vaccines and resuscitation fluids worldwide. The foundation focuses on areas with shortages of blood for transfusions, or where the donor pool has a high incidence of diseases transmitted by transfusion, such as hepatitis B and C, HIV, malaria, Chagas disease, and rabies. The foundation also provides emergency deliveries of rabies vaccine and/or Human Rabies Immunoglobulin to members who may have come into contact with a rabid animal. 

The Blood Care Foundation’s Blood Care Programme provides members with fully screened blood in an emergency. When a member’s 24-hour emergency alarm center is notified that they need a blood transfusion, the foundation contacts the treating physician to identify the patient’s transfusion requirements. The foundation then arranges for resuscitation fluids to be delivered by courier to wherever in the world is needed.
