Campaign Story

The fund aims to fulfill the wish of many people living with disabilities: to lead full, active and independent lives, and helps them to achieve that by providing assistive devices. The Rachel Swart Fund has been working on a number of rural programmes in the form of community training and counselling. They teach wheelchair users and others how to repair and maintain these devices so tat there is little disruption of their daily lives. RSF conducts a repair and maintenance course with disabled and able-bodied community members where they teach basic repair and maintenance.

RSF also works with therapists from local government hospitals and clinics. The Fund sponsors training for people from rural communities to receive training. They have also done a seat training course to community members to assist people with disabilities so that they can avoid complications that can arise from incorrect seating.
